I LikeThere are many great sources out there to find information about social media. Social media is increasingly getting more and more important, especially in the business world so it is important for everyone to not only stay updated with those networks, but stay updated on how they work and what is trending.

It’s very easy to find sites on social media since technology is taking over for businesses and social lives. These following sites are the ones that I found to be the most helpful and have such a large amount of great information about various topics pertaining social media.

1.) Social Media Today: The world’s best thinkers on social media

http://socialmediatoday.com/

I really love this site because you can do so many things. It is really easy to navigate and find what you want. The tabs at the top indicate all of the topics you can read about and you can even create a profile and start to blog on the site to inform other people of your knowledge and experience with social media. All of the stories under the tabs are in blog form posted by users on the site. I think that’s the best way to read information because it has a personal feel to it and is easier and more fun to read! They discuss all the major social media networks including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest and blogging.

2.) Entrepreneur

This is another great website for social media. The majority of the website is for businesses, but if you click on the marketing tab, there is a social media category and I found a lot of these posts to be very helpful. They range from how to get people to read your blog posts to how to effectively market your company on social media. I really like the variety of the format of posts as well. They range from lists to news updates to tips and tricks and they are all very informative.

3.) Mashableab-Social-Media-Satisfaction-Graph-Color-mar13

Mashable is a lot like Entrepreneur, the site features a lot of other aspects of business, but I felt that they had a very strong social media section. There are tons of articles to choose from, I felt like I was scrolling on forever! There is a huge variety of topics to choose from within the articles. They discuss Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest, Vine everything you would need to know about social media, they have it. The layout of the page makes it really easy to navigate and find what you are looking for. Another reason why I really liked this site was because they didn’t just have posts about social media, but they had news as well. A photographer that won an amazing award or a dinosaur exhibit at a museum was a huge hit. It’s those things that people want to hear about too. Social media and marketing that is really working for people. There are also challenges provoking action with members of the site. This is a great way for people to stay with the site because they can interact with it.

4.) Forbes

Forbes is also like the last two sites discussed. It has many other topics on the site, but this social media section is pretty strong. It’s under the technology tab under the social media subcategory. I love at the top it shows tabs with videos and most popular posts because those can be the most helpful sometimes. See what other people are reading.  Again, most of the topics are geared towards Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, but there are some posts that stray off and talk about tips and tricks with other sites too. These posts are more formally written and are filled with more news than just conversation. They are very informative, but if you are looking for a more casual the-dos-and-donts-of-social-media-for-business_50290ab4364f0site, I would choose one of the sites above.

5.) Social Media Explorer

http://www.socialmediaexplorer.com/

This site is a little different from the rest, it is a strategic services agency and information products company. All of their focus is on social media marketing and digital marketing. All of their posts are in blog form and cover various topics. I really found it helpful that at the bottom of the home page their articles are separated into categories. They include social media marketing, public relations, social media monitoring, media and journalism, digital marketing and search engine marketing. I can immediately go straight there and find exactly what I was looking for. The posts are all very helpful and have some great information that is easy to understand and easy to then apply.

I will definitely keep up with these sites because they are so informative and helpful. I might even join one and start posting! Social media is incredibly important in the business world. Everyone is turning to digital and social media marketing. I believe those that are not incorporating digital into their businesses are really missing out on great marketing opportunities. These sites can help with those who want to start digital marketing, those who are new to it, and those who have been using social media for a long period of time. You just have to find the right posts. These are great tools and should be utilized. They are out there for a reason.
